DocuSign + Pipeline CRM Integration
When the agreement is signed, the deal updates itself.
The moment a contract or agreement is completed in DocuSign, the matching deal in Pipeline CRM updates on its own. The stage advances, the signed date and envelope ID are logged, and an activity note records which documents were signed. Your reps stop switching to DocuSign to see what closed, because the pipeline already knows.

What updates in Pipeline CRM
When the envelope is completed, the matched deal’s stage or status moves forward automatically.
The completion date and DocuSign envelope ID land on the deal as custom fields for audit and reference.
An activity is logged on the deal recording the envelope subject and which documents were signed.
At a Glance
The DocuSign integration is one way: DocuSign events flow into Pipeline CRM, not the other direction. When an envelope changes status in DocuSign (sent, delivered, completed, declined, or voided), Pipeline Connect matches it to the right person by email and updates the linked deal. On completion, the deal can auto-advance its stage, the signed date and envelope ID are written to custom fields, and an activity note logs the envelope subject and document names. The Pipeline CRM team builds and runs the connection for you as part of Pipeline Connect, so there is no Zapier subscription and nothing for you to maintain. Built for sales managers and business owners in construction, professional services, manufacturing, and financial services who close on signed agreements and want the pipeline to reflect a signature the moment it happens.
Five manual steps, or none
The clearest way to see what a managed integration is worth: the busywork it deletes, next to what it makes automatic.
Doing it by hand
Every signed agreement, every time
- Watch the inbox for the DocuSign completion email
- Find the matching deal in Pipeline CRM
- Move the deal stage forward by hand
- Log the signed agreement as an activity, listing what was signed
- Copy over the signed date and envelope ID for the record
~5 minutes · signatures sit unnoticed · stale forecasts
With Pipeline Connect
You do nothing. It’s already done
- Deal found and updated the moment the envelope completes
- Signed-agreement activity logged with the envelope subject and document names
- Signed date and envelope ID written to custom fields per the mapping
- Nothing retyped, nothing reconciled by hand
- Connection monitored, and we help you reconnect if access ever changes
0 minutes · no missed signatures · a pipeline that matches reality
Three steps to signatures that update your deals
Connect
Connect your DocuSign account. The Pipeline CRM team handles the API authorization and go-live promotion with DocuSign for you.
Map
We map envelope status to your deal stages and fields, including which completed status should advance a deal and where the signed date lands.
Sync
Signed envelopes update the matching deals automatically. Reps stop checking DocuSign to see what got signed.
What you’ll need to get started
Because DocuSign requires an API-enabled plan and a go-live promotion step before production data can flow, this connection is set up as a custom build within Pipeline Connect. It still runs on the standard $99 plan. Here is how the responsibility splits between you and the Pipeline CRM team during onboarding.
You provide
- A DocuSign plan that includes API access. DocuSign gates production API use to API-enabled eSignature plans.
- DocuSign admin access so you can authorize the connection during setup
- Deals in Pipeline CRM whose contacts match the DocuSign recipient email, so envelopes can be matched to the right deal
- ~15 minutes to submit credentials through the secure intake form
We handle
- API connection, OAuth, and go-live app promotion with DocuSign so the integration is cleared for production use
- DocuSign Connect webhook setup so envelope status changes arrive in real time
- Matching logic and field mapping from envelope events to the right person, deal, and custom fields
- End-to-end testing with a live test envelope before we flip the integration on
- Ongoing monitoring and maintenance, with fixes if DocuSign changes anything on their side
An agreement gets signed. The deal already knows
One thing has to happen: your customer signs. Everything after that is work your team no longer does.
Action
An agreement is signed in DocuSign
That’s it. No completion email to watch for, nothing to retype.
Here is exactly what moves, field by field, in one direction: from DocuSign into Pipeline CRM. Field mapping is set up by the Pipeline CRM team during onboarding; the defaults below cover the vast majority of DocuSign setups, and custom mappings are available on request.
| DocuSign field | Maps to in Pipeline CRM | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| recipient.email | Person / Deal match | Dedup key. Matches the existing person by email; the linked deal is updated. No duplicate is created. |
| envelope.status | Deal: Status or Stage | sent / delivered / completed / declined / voided. Completed can auto-advance the deal stage (configured during onboarding). |
| envelope.completedDateTime | Deal: Custom Field (Signed Date) | Set when status becomes completed |
| envelope.emailSubject | Activity: Note subject | Logged as an activity on the matched deal |
| document names | Activity: Note body | Which documents were in the envelope |
| envelope.envelopeId | Deal: Custom Field (DocuSign Envelope ID) | For audit and reference back to DocuSign |
| (generated) | Activity: Type | Literal: “DocuSign envelope {status}” |
Who runs DocuSign into Pipeline CRM
Scenario 1: Construction firm chasing signed contracts
The situation: A 60-person general contractor sends project contracts through DocuSign. Once a contract goes out, the project manager keeps checking DocuSign several times a day to see whether the client has signed, then goes back into Pipeline CRM to move the deal and kick off scheduling. Signatures often sit for hours before anyone notices, and start dates slip.
With Pipeline Connect: The moment the envelope is completed in DocuSign, the matching deal advances to the signed stage, the signed date and envelope ID are logged, and an activity note records the contract that was signed. The project manager sees it in Pipeline CRM without ever opening DocuSign.
Verdict: If signed contracts sit unnoticed while your team refreshes DocuSign, Pipeline Connect closes that gap for $99/month, so signatures turn into scheduled work the moment they land.
Scenario 2: Professional services firm whose signed SOWs never updated the CRM
The situation: A 30-person consulting firm sends statements of work through DocuSign. When a client signs, the account manager is supposed to update the deal in Pipeline CRM, but it is easy to forget. Forecasts drift out of sync with reality because closed-won work stays open in the pipeline for days.
With Pipeline Connect: Completed SOW envelopes update the matched deal automatically, so the pipeline reflects signed work the same day. The signed date is written to a custom field for clean reporting, and the envelope ID gives finance a reference back to the signed document.
Verdict: If your forecast is only as accurate as your reps’ memory to update deals after a signature, Pipeline Connect makes that update automatic for $99/month.
Scenario 3: Replacing the manual “check DocuSign, then update the deal” busywork
The situation: A 45-person financial services team runs high volumes of agreements through DocuSign. Reps and ops spend part of every day cross-referencing DocuSign against Pipeline CRM to reconcile what has been signed and update stages by hand. It is repetitive, error-prone work that steals selling time.
With Pipeline Connect: Every envelope status change flows into Pipeline CRM and updates the matched deal, so there is nothing to reconcile. Completed envelopes advance the deal, declined or voided envelopes are logged as activity, and the whole team works from one accurate pipeline.
Verdict: If your team spends hours a week reconciling DocuSign against the CRM by hand, Pipeline Connect removes that busywork for $99/month, and the Pipeline CRM team builds and runs the connection for you.
Signed agreements update the right deal on their own, so your pipeline always matches reality.

How does the DocuSign integration work?
DocuSign sends envelope events to Pipeline Connect through DocuSign Connect, DocuSign’s webhook system. When an envelope changes status, we match it to the existing person in Pipeline CRM by the recipient email and update the linked deal. When the envelope is completed, the deal can advance its stage, the signed date and envelope ID are written to custom fields, and an activity note logs the envelope subject and the document names. This is a one-way flow: DocuSign updates Pipeline CRM, so your reps stop switching to DocuSign to see what got signed.
Do I need a specific DocuSign plan?
Yes. DocuSign gates production API use to API-enabled eSignature plans, so you need a DocuSign plan that includes API access for this integration to run in production. Because DocuSign also requires a go-live promotion step before an app can use real data, we set this up as a custom build within Pipeline Connect. It still runs on the standard $99 plan, and our team handles the API authorization and go-live promotion with DocuSign for you.
Which direction does the data flow?
One-way. DocuSign events flow into Pipeline CRM, not the other direction. The integration listens for envelope status changes in DocuSign and updates the matching deal in Pipeline CRM. It does not create or send envelopes from Pipeline CRM back into DocuSign. This keeps the design simple and reliable: DocuSign remains the system where documents are signed, and Pipeline CRM reflects the outcome automatically.
Can a signed envelope move my deal to a Won stage?
Yes. When an envelope reaches completed status, the integration can auto-advance the matched deal to the stage you choose, including a Won stage. You decide which completed status advances a deal and which stage it lands in, and we configure that mapping during onboarding. If you prefer a signature to update a status field rather than move the stage, that is supported too.
How long does setup take?
You spend about 15 minutes submitting your DocuSign credentials through the secure intake form. From there the Pipeline CRM team handles the API connection, OAuth, the DocuSign Connect webhook setup, the go-live app promotion with DocuSign, the matching and field mapping, and end-to-end testing with a live test envelope. Because the DocuSign go-live promotion is a custom build step, we confirm your timeline during the sales call so you know exactly when the integration goes live.
How is this different from Zapier?
Zapier puts the setup, maintenance, and debugging burden on you. You build the zap, you handle the DocuSign API-enablement and go-live steps, you patch field changes, and you find out it is broken from your reps. Pipeline Connect is fully managed for $99/month. Our team builds the integration, handles the DocuSign go-live promotion, monitors it, and fixes it if it breaks. There is no Zapier subscription, no zap to maintain, and no third-party dashboard to log into. One bill from Pipeline CRM covers everything. If you have a developer who prefers to build with our public API, that path is available too.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Your DocuSign credentials are submitted through a secure intake form and stored with industry-standard secrets management. The integration runs on isolated infrastructure per customer. Envelope events flow directly from DocuSign into your Pipeline CRM account with no third-party data warehouse in between. If you want to rotate your credentials at any time, contact support through Pipeline CRM live chat and we will redeploy the integration with the new credentials.
